Summary
Olympic Race Walker Alex Schwazer won a gold medal
in the 2008 Olympics in record time. Recently in the 2012 Summer Olympics it
was revealed that Schwazer was using illegal substances such as blood doping to
enhance his performance. Schwazer was actually relieved to have been caught
stating that he” was not made to take drugs or to deceive people.” Alex
Schwazer’s medals were confiscated and he was stripped of his title.
Reflection
It is a shame that nowadays many athletes use illegal
substances to enhance their performances. Even though Alex Schwazer might have
ruined his reputation he regrets his decision and will most likely feel shame
and guilt he did the correct thing by admitting his use of illegal substance. I
have strict views on the concept of “cheating” no one should resort to such
despicable actions just because they feel inadequate. Lack of confidence is one
of the most prominent motives for cheating, but most will deny this immediately
deceiving both themselves and others.
