Student Success Statement
“Everyone is the architect of their own learning.”
Claudius

This is an amazing statement by Claudius. Like our future our education can be manipulated by us and molded to our standards, but like future consequences we must be held accountable for our decisions. The statement above utilizes a superb figurative example conveying the student as the architect and their education as their building. For example, say a student attends all of his classes and completes all of his work while another student does not complete his work and when transported to school does not actually enter the premises. Which of these students will likely have a more promising future? Well it is obviously the one who is setting up an adequate foundation for himself within his education. Let us compare these two students to two managers; the adequate student always instructs his employees on the proper procedures if a fire ever occurs inside of the building while the inadequate student vaguely explains the procedure to his employees. If there was ever a fire then the adequate student’s employees will most likely exit the building without sustaining any mortal injuries. As said before the consequences derived from our decisions will impact many as well as yourself.

Tranquil Under Pressure: 6 of 10

Tranquil Under Pressure
6 of 10

Very few students enjoy taking an exam. Yet functioning well under pressure is crucial to your future success. Attempt to think of the pressure of testing as you practice for the career environment’s chaotic situations. You could someday encounter constricting deadlines, speaking with irate customers, wielding a scalpel, handling dangerous chemicals, etc.

The most adequate manner to curtail under pressure and to eliminate this burden is to prepare. Applying the motto “Be Prepared” is an adequate motto that provides motivation. Prepare for that exam, and you will not have to concern yourself about your score. In fact, it will increase your chances for success, to reveal the amount of effort that you have exerted in order to prepare for the exam. You will be rewarded for the effort that you have thrust into your studies. Preparation removes fear. When you are prepared for a situation it will not be as intimidating when it occurs. Preparation helps you achieve tranquility when under pressure. Preparation generates energy and enthusiasm; therefore prepare and your calmness when under pressure is sure to abound.

Speaking Skills: 2 of 10

Speaking Skills
2 of 10

When you’re assigned a class presentation, think twice before dismissing it as an unimportant aspect of your education. Employers observe job applicants and attempt to evaluate if they express adequate vocal/ communication skills. You may have to present a presentation of some sort to clients or represent your organization in the field. It’s never too soon to practice adequate eye contact and other public speaking techniques.

According to The Book of Lists, the fear of public presentations/ speaking ranks as number one in the minds of the majority of individuals. Far above the fear of death and disease, emanates the fear of standing in front of a crowd. Joel Wiener noted author and public orator desires to help individuals overcome that fear.

“The biggest fear is public speaking, with 15 percent of Americans experiencing a dramatic fear of it,” said Dr. Michael Telch of the Laboratory for the Study of Anxiety Disorders (LSAD) in the Department of Psychology at The University of Texas in Austin. “People have had to turn down jobs, and certainly students have dropped out of class because of it.”

Regardless of your occupation, your success depends a great deal upon your ability to communicate effectively! Whether you’re managing a meeting, marketing a product, creating a presentation, motivating co-workers or just communicating effectively with one person or others, you’ll achieve far better results if you can communicate persuasively, smoothly, and intelligently.

Student Success Statement
“Improve your performance by improving your attitude.”
Anonymous

This is an amazing quote that portrays the importance of how your perception of a subject affects whether you are adequate at it or not. For example, let’s say that you hate soccer, but end up joining the soccer team and you are terrible at soccer. What is there left to do? The most adequate thing to do in your situation is to improve your attitude and “brighten” your perception of soccer. That is the only way in which you will receive positive results. If you perceive an activity as negative then when you participate in it your performance will be inadequate therefore prompting you to hate the activity.

Student Success Statement
“When an archer misses the mark, he turns and looks for the fault within himself. Failure to hit the bulls-eye is never the fault of the target. To improve your aim, improve yourself.”
Gilbert Arland

When we attempt something new, but fail we almost always try to transfer your failure onto another subject or individual. Many of us presume that if we try something new we will prove to be adequate at it. If we fail at whatever we tried we either accept it or in most cases blame other aspects of our lives or other people. This is not the case in everyone however a few individuals who fail at something try to correct the fault that restrained them from achieving what they wanted to achieve and improve themselves in that aspect. Let me provide an example, say a student received a despicable grade on an exam and blamed the teacher when they should have corrected any faults and improved himself by indulging in his studies.
