“Honesty is the cornerstone of character. The honest man or woman seeks not merely to avoid criminal or illegal acts, but to be scrupulously fair, upright, and fearless in both action and expression. Honesty pays both in dollars and in peace of mind.”
B.C Forbes

This is an amazing statement by Bertie Charles Forbes/ B.C Forbes. Honesty is a fundamental aspect of an individual’s ideals and values and is a requirement for success. Although most of the time honesty can be a difficult norm to implicate its enormous amount of importance should be assessed when you do not want implicate honesty into your lifestyle. Honesty is a very compensating quality that is praised by many, but not implicated by many because as we all know it honesty is a much more superior quality than deceitfulness and many are aware of this and choose to not implicate it. For those who do implicate honesty they will succeed since they are incorporating a fundamental aspect into their lives enhancing their perspectives.

“Stop worrying about whether you are going to win or lose and focus your attention on what’s happening right this moment.”
Phil Jackson
11 World Championships-Coach
2 World Championships-Player
2 High School Championships-Player

This is an amazing statement by Phil Jackson. If you prioritize your current objective than it will be much easier to indulge yourself into the objective than if you begin to think about the possible consequences which will cloud your thinking. For example, suppose a kid is preparing himself for a soccer game, but is distracted when being told the routine in which the game would be played because he is thinking about whether they would win or lose the game. When he begins to play he does not remember the routines and causes his team to lose the game. If the student would have prioritized his current objective (the soccer game) then he would have not been preoccupied with the game’s outcome and would have played more efficiently. If you devote yourself to your current objective while slightly disregarding the aftermath then you will succeed because you will not devote yourself into formulating possible aftermaths which will lead to failure.

“Truth is the only safe ground to stand upon.”
Elizabeth Cady Stanton

This is an amazing statement by Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Lies cannot harbor an individual from any danger; lies only induce more danger and chaos. The truth will always be a much more prosperous decision then lying because the truth while it cannot harbor you from any physical danger it is the most secure decision there is. For example, if you need to attend a birthday celebration, but have also accepted an invitation to another celebration and you lie to the person who arranged the celebration and inform them that you are currently feeling very ill (which is a lie because you are not feeling ill.” After doing such you decide to go to the other celebration with a sensation of guilt and doubtfulness. later that evening the person who person who arranged the celebration brings you a slice of cake from the celebration just as you are walking back from the other celebration with some associates and  you are seen by the person that you deceived and that person is now angry and disappointed. Would you rather have told her the truth and arranged a plan where you could attend both celebrations? I believe most will answer yes because the solution was too simple. You could have arranged to go to the first celebration for an hour and then relocate to the other celebration without deceiving anone.

“Everyone is the architect of their own learning.”
Claudius

This is an amazing statement by Claudius. Like our future our education can be manipulated by us and molded to our standards, but like future consequences we must be held accountable for our decisions. The statement above utilizes a superb figurative example conveying the student as the architect and their education as their building. For example, say a student attends all of his classes and completes all of his work while another student does not complete his work and when transported to school does not actually enter the premises. Which of these students will likely have a more promising future? Well it is obviously the one who is setting up an adequate foundation for himself within his education. Let us compare these two students to two managers; the adequate student always instructs his employees on the proper procedures if a fire ever occurs inside of the building while the inadequate student vaguely explains the procedure to his employees. If there was ever a fire then the adequate student’s employees will most likely exit the building without sustaining any mortal injuries. As said before the consequences derived from our decisions will impact many as well as yourself.

“Start with what is right rather than what is acceptable.”
Peter F. Drucker

This is an amazing statement by Peter F. Drucker. Many things are viewed as correct by many, but are morally wrong. What is correct is not what is viewed as correct, but what is morally correct. For example, you are at a school board meeting and the head of the school district wants to reduce the amount of profit that is provided to our schools. For many this seems atrociously evil, but for the employees at the school district this may seem as an “acceptable” action that will ensure their sustainability. Unlike the employees, many of the citizens view this as unacceptable because this will lead to a decline in the conditions of our educational institutions. What the employees should ask themselves is if this decision is morally correct? Which it is definitely not!

“To be great—concentrate.”
Orison Swett Marden

This is an amazing statement by famous author Orison Swett Marden. To accomplish something you must always concentrate. Everything that seems promising incorporates concentration as its key element. For example, let’s say that Richard wants to pass his end of course examination, but does not concentrate when in class and therefore at the current moment is failing this class. If Richard begins to concentrate and indulge himself in his studies then he will be able to succeed, but it will require concentration which he will discover to be his adversary. Since many know that concentration is the ability to devote your effort into something of your interest no matter what is occurring around you (i.e. reading when everyone while others are disrupting the classroom.) Then why do many find in complicated to concentrate? Concentration is difficult when you have other aspects of your life attempting to prioritize, but if you disregard those aspects/ situations for a short time and prioritize what is of importance then you will succeed.

“Education is a marathon—not a sprint.”
Anonymous

Your education is a long, but worthy figurative marathon because you need to maintain a consistent pace whereas in a sprint you do not because you have used up all of your energy sprinting at your top speed. For example, say a student has been receiving inadequate grades all year and now to raise his grades has to do a lot of extra credit assignments which will tire him therefore leading him to slow down again and not exert the amount of effort he should. If someone maintains the consistent pace then they will be able to succeed in their education because they will sustain enough energy to traverse through their objectives. I myself am a cross country runner and keeping a consistent pace allows me to sustain enough energy to traverse through my objectives while still sustaining enough to sprint when I can, but many sprint form the beginning then slow down then vigorously speed up then drastically decline in speed not exerting the require amount of effort.

“The man who has no imagination has no wings.”
Muhammad Ali

This is an amazing statement by Muhammad Ali. Imagination is vital for the creation of ambitions which allow you to succeed. This quote figuratively explains that without any imagination then you will not be able to succeed. Imagination is vitally associated with creativity which then leads to the creation of ambitions and the completion of those ambitions. If were to perceive the world with no imagination what so ever then I believe that it would be a barren world yearning for creativity with mindless individuals confused and wandering around with no purpose. Without imagination we aren’t able to excavate the infinite possibilities that are bestowed to us by our imaginations therefore we will not aspire to accomplish anything and all humans would be rendered fruitless with no wings to elevate those selected individuals toward success.

Student Success Statement
“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more important than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”
Calvin Coolidge, 30th president of the United States

This is an amazing statement by Calvin Coolidge. Persistence and determination are both important qualities that will allow success. For example, let’s say that one of your classmates is labeled as a genius; Does that ensure success? No, what if he does not complete his homework and thinks of himself superior to his peers. Will an employer hire him if he is not as approachable as the other applicants; chances are that he will not be employed for the position. Determination and diligence is what allows people to realize their ambitions not talent. Talent is only properly applied when someone who expresses the qualities above it can never ensure success because many do not apply themselves and therefore do not succeed.

“Failure is only postponed success as long as courage coaches ambition. The habit of persistence is the habit of victory.”
Herbert Kaufman

This is an amazing statement by Herbert Kaufman. Persistence is an endearing quality that is of great importance when trying to achieve an ambition. Courage, diligence, initiative, and persistence are all important when trying to achieve an ambition, but fail. What is failure? Failure can be defined many ways. In our case, failure is the ill attempt in completing an ambition. If you do not complete something then should you overlook the ambition and move along? NO, failure allows us to better ourselves and evaluate the aspect(s) that made you unable to complete your ambition the first time. With all of the qualities listed above will serve as a figurative rehabilitation center where courage would inspire you to persist in the completion of the action and where diligence and initiative along with your ambition will generate motivation and allows for victory.

“To see what is right and no to do it is want of courage.”
Confucius

This is an amazing statement by Confucius. If you were to participate in an improper action knowing that it is not the correct thing to do you are lacking courage and desire courage because it is something that is not abundant inside of you. For example courage is expressed when you do not commit any improper actions even though others would ridicule you for not following their “example”  and that you are aware of the negative consequences that the action can convey. If you are aware of the severity of an action, but proceed and commit it because you are afraid of being ridiculed then you are deficient of courage and yearn for it even if you are not aware of it.

“Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement.”
Matt Biondi

This is an amazing quote by Matt Biondi. Persistence will always prove a formidable adversary for failure. Although in some cases failure can assist others, most of the time it is useless it will not aid you in accomplishing anything. Persistence is as valuable as hope itself because without persistence of an action there would not be any hope of accomplishing it vice-versa. For example, let’s say you currently have a bad grade in your history class and you are currently beginning your second semester and would like to maintain the A that is prearranged to all students in the beginning of each semester. To accomplish this feat you will have to evaluate what aspects of your life endanger your grade and attempt to ignore those aspects and focus on you studies. Development is only accomplished through perseverance, but failure is accomplished through feebleness.

“Improve your performance by improving your attitude.”
Anonymous

This is an amazing quote that portrays the importance of how your perception of a subject affects whether you are adequate at it or not. For example, let’s say that you hate soccer, but end up joining the soccer team and you are terrible at soccer. What is there left to do? The most adequate thing to do in your situation is to improve your attitude and “brighten” your perception of soccer. That is the only way in which you will receive positive results. If you perceive an activity as negative then when you participate in it your performance will be inadequate therefore prompting you to hate the activity.

“Gold medals don’t make champions… hard work does.”
Anonymous

This is an amazing quote establishing the importance of how effort is what represents achievement not the amount of recognition received. Those exert effort when doing something will be recognized, but what represents their achievement much more profoundly than recognition is the effort which is what assisted them in achieving their goal. Sure recognition is somewhat valuable in the sense that it motivates us to strive and achieve something of the same caliber as what was recently achieved, but will recognition aid you in achieving your goal? No, your effort will aid you in achieving your goal.

“The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character.” Margaret Chase Smith

This is an amazing quote by Margaret Chase Smith. Today there are many individuals who succumb to the desires of others knowing that it is wrong, but are pressured into committing improper action. Suppose there is a group of kids who are going to go to their friend’s older brother’s house and drink alcohol, but the kid does not think that it is proper for them to be doing that and is then ridiculed by his “friends” because they believe that he is not “fun” anymore, but the kid decides to leave the group and not consume any alcohol. Ask yourself who is of better character, the kid who left the group or the kid who proposed the insidious activity? Most definitely the kid who did not succumb to his “friends” desires and was not provoked to accept his friend’s proposal even though the others all wanted to drink.

“Continuous effort, not strength or intelligence, is the key to unlocking our potential.”
Liane Cordes

This is an amazing statement by Liane Cordes. Those who exert continuous effort are more likely to succeed then those who do not. Those who are not the most adequate at something (whatever it may be,) will always accomplish their goals because they exhibit a vast amount of effort and determination and with given time they will accomplish. To be accomplished correctly every task must be done with a sense of indulgence regardless of the situation you must always express continuous effort in order to “unlock your potential,” and complete every task in an extraordinary manner.

“Be quick, but don’t get into a hurry.” John Wooden

This is an amazing quote by former UCLA basketball coach John Wooden. Almost every human being makes a decision every day. To make a decision you must be diligent not urgent because when someone makes a rash decision they do not allow themselves time to think about their decisions and the possible consequences therefore their decision is inadequately formulated. Even tasks of minor importance require diligence when decisions are made that can contribute to the task. If you make a decision when expressing urgency you will not think of the consequences and this will provide undesired results.

“When an archer misses the mark, he turns and looks for the fault within himself. Failure to hit the bulls-eye is never the fault of the target. To improve your aim, improve yourself.”
Gilbert Arland

When we attempt something new, but fail we almost always try to transfer your failure onto another subject or individual. Many of us presume that if we try something new we will prove to be adequate at it. If we fail at whatever we tried we either accept it or in most cases blame other aspects of our lives or other people. This is not the case in everyone however a few individuals who fail at something try to correct the fault that restrained them from achieving what they wanted to achieve and improve themselves in that aspect. Let me provide an example, say a student received a despicable grade on an exam and blamed the teacher when they should have corrected any faults and improved himself by indulging in his studies.

“Your future is created based on what you do today; not tomorrow.”
Robert Kiyosaki

This is an amazing statement by author of “Rich Dad, Poor Dad,” Robert Kiyosaki. If you decide to do something then that action will formulate an outcome/ consequence that will be your future. You can never predict the future because there are so many consequences that are all derived off of your choices today. For example, if you were to become a successful business executive you would begin to learn more about the position therefore you became interested in the career position and let’s say you just currently researched it and did it today not in the future. Our actions today (the present) determine the consequences of our future.

“Never, there is no justification ever for choosing any part of what you know to be evil.”
Ayn Rand

This is an amazing statement by esteemed Russian novelist, philosopher, playwright, and screenwriter Ayn Rand. There is never any justification for committing an improper (Evil) action. We must never attempt to justify an improper action because no matter how much effort is exerted into justifying the action it will never be deemed correct. Society is an important factor in the decision of whether an action is correct or if it is not. Would you expect the justification of an action that caused the deaths of many? No the action will never be justified since it impacted society negatively. Differentiation of right or wrong is different with every person, but the perception of an event that impacted the world will affect many profoundly.
