Cheaters never Prosper

Summary

Olympic Race Walker Alex Schwazer won a gold medal in the 2008 Olympics in record time. Recently in the 2012 Summer Olympics it was revealed that Schwazer was using illegal substances such as blood doping to enhance his performance. Schwazer was actually relieved to have been caught stating that he” was not made to take drugs or to deceive people.” Alex Schwazer’s medals were confiscated and he was stripped of his title.

Reflection

It is a shame that nowadays many athletes use illegal substances to enhance their performances. Even though Alex Schwazer might have ruined his reputation he regrets his decision and will most likely feel shame and guilt he did the correct thing by admitting his use of illegal substance. I have strict views on the concept of “cheating” no one should resort to such despicable actions just because they feel inadequate. Lack of confidence is one of the most prominent motives for cheating, but most will deny this immediately deceiving both themselves and others.

Balancing High School and Part-time Work: Part 4

Balancing High School and Part-time Work
Part 4

He reminds students that “the activities and courses students choose very considerably, so it’s important for young people to keep their individual situations clearly in mind.” MacGowan contains, “For example, student actors should allow for the fact that they won’t have as much time during performance seasons. Student athletes need to remember the times of year that they’ll be ties up with games and practices. Other students who are in classes that make considerable demands outside of the classroom must keep that reality in mind.”

No one left behind

Summary:
Jenna Huff a cross country runner was competing in a race and was right beside Deb Guthmann who was in front of her by little distance, but then Deb Guthmann assumed a kneeling position and groaned in pain. Jenna Huff was perplexed at first, but then told Deb "You are going to win this race,' and proceeded to carry Deb Guthmann who with the support of Jenna slowly jogged to the finish line. Deb Guthmann arrived at the finish line in 21st place and Jenna arrived in 22nd place. Jenna was in danger of being disqualified, but was not because disqualification only applies when you asisst one of your teamates.
Reflection:
This was an amazing act of kindness that not many athletes would commit. Many athletes would take advantage of the situation and proceed to the finish line. Jenna who was not even associated with Deb assisted her while she was injured and led her to the finish line and even let her take 21st place while she was 22nd. Jenna's self-less actions have inspired many athletes and as a cross-country runner myself I admire Jenna and her act of kindness.
