Writing Skills: 1 of 10

Writing Skills
1 of 10

Communication is one of the most essential skills that employers evaluate most often. Communication in a working environment indicates that you will have to transcribe your sentences onto paper. Health professionals keep patient charts, researchers depend on the profit that they collect by writing grant applications, software engineers inscribe technical specifications, and nearly everyone inscribes e-mails to people inside and outside their organization. And before you even acquire an opportunity to be interviewed for an occupation, you’ll need to present yourself in cover letters and resumes.

So, by considering writing as an adversary and displaying the most effort on every research paper, every lab report you inscribe, every new post you inscribe in your blog site, and every writing activity you engage in, you’re preparing yourself for a great career.

It's online, but Is It On Target?: Part 3

It’s Online, but Is It On Target?
Part 3

Dot-What?

Look at the site’s address. What follows the dot?

·        Dot-com is not only for businesses; anyone can use it. Dot-coms include well-known and respected companies, but also private individuals.

·        Dot-org usually indicates a non-for-profit organization. Most dot-org websites present unbiased information, but others have political agendas, focus on debatable issues instead of facts, and might not present all opinions regarding the subject.

·        Dot-gov indicates a government website at the federal, state or local level. The federal government is a good source of statistics, and its sites are widely considered among the most reliable.

·        Dot-mil is used by sites associated with the military.

·        Dot-edu usually indicates a website associated with an educational institution. While its published research is generally considered very trustworthy, anyone associated with the university, whether a world-renowned scholar or a freshman, can access the server. Professors sometimes post student assignments on the website, but that does not mean that they’re vouching for the information’s accuracy.

The Power of Study Groups: Part 2

The Power of Study Groups

Part 2

The benefits of Study Groups

Groups study offers other advantages in addition to gaining a deeper understanding of class material. These include the opportunity to: Reinforce note-taking. If your AP Biology notes are unclear, you can ask a member of your study group to help you fill in the gaps. Each person brings in different strengths, such as organizational skills, the ability to stick to a task or capacity for memorization.

Cover more ground. Group members may be able to solve a calculus problem together that none would have solved alone.

Benefit from a support system. Members often have common goals, such as good grades. Each person’s work affects the other members, which results in making members supportive of one another.

Socialize. It’s more fun to study with others; the give-and-take makes it more interesting. And because it’s more fun, you spend more time studying!
