Student Success Statement
“Stop worrying about whether you are going to win or lose and focus your attention on what’s happening right this moment.”
Phil Jackson
11 World Championships-Coach
2 World Championships-Player
2 High School Championships-Player

This is an amazing statement by Phil Jackson. If you prioritize your current objective than it will be much easier to indulge yourself into the objective than if you begin to think about the possible consequences which will cloud your thinking. For example, suppose a kid is preparing himself for a soccer game, but is distracted when being told the routine in which the game would be played because he is thinking about whether they would win or lose the game. When he begins to play he does not remember the routines and causes his team to lose the game. If the student would have prioritized his current objective (the soccer game) then he would have not been preoccupied with the game’s outcome and would have played more efficiently. If you devote yourself to your current objective while slightly disregarding the aftermath then you will succeed because you will not devote yourself into formulating possible aftermaths which will lead to failure.

“To be great—concentrate.”
Orison Swett Marden

This is an amazing statement by famous author Orison Swett Marden. To accomplish something you must always concentrate. Everything that seems promising incorporates concentration as its key element. For example, let’s say that Richard wants to pass his end of course examination, but does not concentrate when in class and therefore at the current moment is failing this class. If Richard begins to concentrate and indulge himself in his studies then he will be able to succeed, but it will require concentration which he will discover to be his adversary. Since many know that concentration is the ability to devote your effort into something of your interest no matter what is occurring around you (i.e. reading when everyone while others are disrupting the classroom.) Then why do many find in complicated to concentrate? Concentration is difficult when you have other aspects of your life attempting to prioritize, but if you disregard those aspects/ situations for a short time and prioritize what is of importance then you will succeed.

Student Success Statement
“When I was teaching basketball, I urged my players to try their hardest to improve on that very day, to make that practice a masterpiece. This rule is even more important in life than basketball. You have to apply yourself each day to become a little better. By applying yourself to the task becoming a little better each and every day over a period of time, you will become a lot better. Only then will you be able to approach being the best you can be. It begins by trying to make each day count and knowing you can never make up for a lost day.”
John Wooden

This is an amazing quote by former UCLA basketball coach John Wooden. Being a dedicated athlete I also believe that you can never compensate for a lost day of training. If we expect to become better at something then we should continuously indulge ourselves in that activity with the desire to improve. If you apply yourself positive results will soon manifest themselves because of your effort and every day you will improve (even though it may not seem that way.) Dedication is a large contributing factor to improvement and depends on how much is exerted. This marvelous quote explains the importance of dedication and also depicts the countless individuals that have been inspired by Mr. Wooden.

Student Success Statement
“Disciplining yourself to do what you know is right and important, although difficult, is the highroad to pride, self-esteem, and personal satisfaction.”
Margaret Thatcher

This an amazing quote published by former British politician Margaret Thatcher. Discipline is difficult, but necessary for prosperity. For example, if you’re friends are going to go smoke by an alleyway and you know that smoking is atrocious and are tempted to do so just to follow the lead of your friends, but you have disciplined yourself to stay away from drugs and you do so then you will be compensated with pride, courageous self-esteem, and overall satisfaction that you will not regret anything. The “Highroad” is a metaphorical road which can be referred to as the ladder of success in where by doing the right and proper things and referring to your moral/ ethical codes when you are tempted to indulge in improper activities.

“If it is not right, do not do it; if it is not true, do not say it.”
Marcus Aurelius
Roman Emperor from 161 AD to 180 AD

This is an amazing quote from a Roman Emperor! If something is wrong why do it? This amazing quote conveys what is correct and what is incorrect. If you commit something wrong why did you even do it in the first place? The answer is that you did not thoroughly elaborate on the possible consequences therefore making your understanding of your action meager. Once you realize that you have committed an improper action then you start to realize your mistake. If something is not true then why mention it? Many like to indulge in “Gossip,” but it is improper to even mention something that can destroy a person’s reputation and that is not accurate.

"It's better to be alone then to be in bad company."
ANON
This is an amazing quote that I agree. I believe thatn an individual does require company, but conpany that is good not the oppposite of it. It  is indeed better to be alone then to participate in wrong actions that both you and your so called friends will not benefit from. many youths today are pressured and persuaded into changing their appearance, attitude, and so on. Youths percieve the world differently therefore would want to percive similarly tothe one they admire. If they want to be "cool" and have exhilerting friendships and if they acquire that by participating in wrong actions and belive to be persuaded then they are wrong they allowed themselves to be indulged into the world of drugs, crime, etc. If you are not in contact with those who participate in wtrong actions than you are doing the right thing and then you could acquire acquaintances who are good and not miscreants.
